Posted: March 9, 2006 10:07 am. Check out Tues. Jan. 3, 2006 NEW YORK TIMES front page. FsboMadison featured in Real Estate article "Owners' Web Gives Realtors Run For Money". New York Times MONEY MAGAZINE, March 2006, contains a very interesting article about mortgage rates, title and closing fees, entitled "Snow Job". This is definitely worth reading if you are a buyer, and will be enlightening reading for any property owner. A team of Money writers investigated the closing costs for a group of owners on a particular street in St. Louis Park, MN. They found significant disparities in cost and a number of unidentified financial/ownership connections between real estate agents, title companies and mortgage providers. They pose a set of questions to use as guidelines for avoiding this type of situation when making financing and closing arrangements. We have contacted Money Magazine twice to request permission/pay for a link to this article and have not heard back from them yet. |
